To be free from the compulsion of thinking you may want to consider a radical resolution...
...rather than trying to fix and control this flow of thinking with better thoughts
see what the source of thinking is.
Stay with the watching for long enough until you'll find out
that what your thinking is trying to defend against
is a lie you can be free from.
Why is that a lie?
Because thoughts cannot prevent your existential experience to feel the way it does.
Ask yourself:
What am I going to lose if I let pain be part of life?
Open up to the possibility of accepting the truth of what you are xperiencing
and the compulsion of thinking, which tries to fix what is,
may find no more ground to root into.
This is more than a better thought,
it is freedom from thoughts.
It is the experiencing of all experiences,
as you are.
